Due to issues that have yet to be resolved between musicians’ attorneys and concert photographers, I am limited to the concert shots I can sell without getting a takedown notice or threat of a lawsuit. In many cases, I did sign an agreement, and in MOST of those cases, there is a statute of limitations on on how long the media outlet can claim ownership of the photo. Since my gig with Examiner ended when they shut down and became AXS who then “fired” all the Examiners, I consider all waivers null.
As the photographer, I maintain that I will always hold the exclusive copyright to the photographs I’ve taken and I actually should be able sell them if I want. Funny thing about the copyright dilemma in concert photography is that if I ALTER my photos in an artistic manner, then I can sell them as long as it is an artistic rendition of the artist.
That said, if you go through my concert photos and see something you want as a poster, canvas, print…shower curtain?… let me know and I will be happy to create a private listing for you. (Except Kiss. They’d sue my cat, YOUR cat, the kittens they’re never going to have and your dead Great Aunt Mildred if they could lol.)
