With cold weather on the horizon, it’s time to get back to crocheting. Currently, I’m working on a very simple scarf using two sets of double crochet stitches with ch 2 spaces in between. There’s no magic to completing a scarf using this method, making this a great project for a beginner.
Mine is still very much a WIP. It’s just something I’m casually working on when I have to take my mind off the flowers I’m making for an order. However, I will post the finished scarf when it’s done.
Yes, you can sell any scarves you make using this pattern. Please be kind and give me a link back when you show it off. Thanks!
What you need:
I’m using a 6mm hook with a Hobby Lobby ILTY in Sherbet Stripe I bought on clearance. An equivalent yarn is another favorite, Red Heart With Love Striped. Since this stitch is started as a chain in multiples of 4, you can make this as wide or narrow as you want. Also note, that using a thicker yarn and larger hook will create a wider, thicker scarf, just as using a smaller hook and thinner yarn will produce a narrower, more thin scarf. Adjust your starting chain accordingly, as long as you start with a multiple of 4.
Directions:
Chain 40
ROW 1: 2DC in 5th chain from the hook. 2DC in next stitch. *Skip 2ch. 2DC in next two stitches. Repeat from * until the last two stitches. Skip 1 chain and put 1 DC in last stitch. Chain 3. Turn.
ROW 2: *Skip the first two stitches. Put 2DC in each of the next 2 stitches. Repeat from * until you reach the last two stitches. Skip one stitch. Put 1 DC into the top of the CH3 of the previous row. Ch 3. Turn.
Repeat row 2 until your scarf reaches your desired length.
Optional: Finish ends with tassels or fringe.
