Monoprinting.

If you’ve never seen the video of how ceramic dinner plates that have a design get painted consistently, you may have seen a manicurist use a gel stamp to imprint on acrylic nails. This same method is used in art, where an artist can paint onto a gelled plate then transfer it on to paper.

I’ve always been looking for ways to turn my concert photos and turn them into art I can sell. Monoprinting is it.

A gel plate, acrylic paint, a brayer and paper is all you need – though it also helps to have stencils and masks. Anything and everything imprints on the gel plate.

To see a list of supplies I’m using, visit my Amazon Storefront for favorite art supplies. You are under no obligation to buy anything but I may earn a few pennies if you do. This helps support my family. By the way, I’ll save you the TEMU trip – the gel plates they sell are subpar quality.

I didn’t recommend any specific paint because I’ve been using all kinds of acrylics: Posca pens, tube paints, sharpies etc. I get my acrylic tubes at Hobby Lobby when they’re on sale. No I don’t really care about your issues with Hobby Lobby. They’re the closest supply store to me and I have yet to burst into flames for going into one.
